Franklin LaVoie
co-Resident Set Designer

Franklin LaVoie has a degree from the SUCB and is the founding member of Skeletons In The Closet Productions. Franklin also does Storytelling and talks about Local History Mysteries, as well as doing painting and design commissions.
Franklin's breath-taking design work has been seen at many area theatres including Theater of Youth's (TOY) productions of THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE and THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW, the Buffalo Ensemble Theatre's THE REMARKABLE PIETY OF THE INFAMOUS and the New Phoenix Theatre's BLUE ROOM, ORGANIC MOVEMENT OF CHAIR AND PITCHER, and THE PILLOWMAN -- to name only a few.
In 2005, Franklin received an Artie Award for his lighting design of the New Phoenix Theatre's JESUS HOPPED THE A TRAIN.
Also an accomplished playwright, Franklin's self-produced original works THE BEDEVILED CHEST and MEDIUM RARE have earned much critical acclaim.
With Subversive Theatre, Franklin has crafted sets for our productions of THE ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST (2002), MANIFEST DESTINY BLUES (2003), and our 2004 production of A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON MY WAY TO SHOOT THE CZAR for the Toronto Fringe Festival.
Franklin served both as a set painter and as a sometime musician for our production of Bertolt Brecht's THE EXCEPTION AND THE RULE for the 2007 Buffalo "infringement" Festival and then contributed some beautiful set painting and costume crafting for our wildly experiment re-interpretation of Eugene O'Neill's THE HAIRY APE for the 2009 Buffalo "infringement" Festival!
