Tamara S. Hopersberger
Actor/Designer/Subversive Screenings Co-ordinator
A relatively new member of Subversive Theatre, Tammy has been closely
involved with the world of the Arts from a very early age serving as everything from an artist/print model, a talent competition judge, a back-up
singer, a stage manager, a dancer, a props mistress, to a dance instructor.
A native of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Tammy holds a
BFA in Theatre Arts from Philadelphia's University of the Arts. Philadelphia credits include INTO THE WOODS
(Lucinda), NO EXIT (Estelle), CEREMONY (Ensemble), SHATTERED
IMAGE (Ensemble, Dancer), HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA (Esmeralda), TOP
GIRLS (Patient Griselda) and A GIRL’S GUIDE TO CHAOS (Cynthia),
her senior year solo show.
After graduation she accepted the lead role of "Lilith"
in GUARDING THE GARDEN with New Legends, a national touring company. While touring, Tamara managed to take master
classes with Judith Jamison, Frank Herbert, Uta Hagen, Martha Graham Dance
Company, Rand Whipple, Whit McLaughlin, Manfred Fishbeck, Nancy Kantra, and the Pennsylvania Ballet.
Since her arrival here in Buffalo, Tammy's stage credits include JESUS CHRIST
SUPERSTAR (Mary Magdelene). and LOVE.COM (multiple roles).
Tammy first appeared with Subversive Theatre in the
experimental movement oriented piece OUROBOROS
in January/February of 2009. She graced the Subversive stage again in
the vignettes "Ismene's Press Conference" and "The
Gospel According to Beatrice" (pictured left) in the showcase sUBVERsIVE
sHORTs 2009 and performed in our staged readings of HOMEBODY/KABUL
and DAYS OF THE COMMUNE.
Most recently, Tammy appeared in our experimental
extravaganza 84:
A TRIBUTE TO ORWELL'S DYSTOPIA in January of 2010.
Tammy officially became a member of our Troupe in
the Summer of 2009 and served as costume designer for our production of TWILIGHT
for Curtain Up 2009. She also recently became the co-ordinator of our
ongoing Subversive Screenings program.

work again in our upcoming production of 84.
