"Mankind, which in Homer's time was an object of contemplation for the Olympian gods, now is one for itself.  Its self-alienation has reached such a degree that it can experience its own destruction as an aesthetic pleasure of the first order.
"This is the situation of politics which Fascism is rendering aesthetic.  Communism responds by politicizing art."
-- Walter Benjamin

About Our May Day Celebration Series

How Subversive Theatre celebrates
MAY DAY!

We at Subversive Theatre feel it is both our privilege and our duty to do our small part to help keep the spirit of May Day alive.  For over a decade now, we have commemorated each May Day by holding an artistic event that speaks out on the issues of working people past and present.  Most years these have been staged readings of radical plays.  Some years have been a little different.  Here's a quick list of all the installments of this program since it began way back in 2002.
