at the Manny Fried Playhouse
for
our third annual "Workers' Power Play Series"
DROP HAMMER
by Manny Fried*
"A peoples'
play that makes effective, meaningful, and entertaining theatre."
-- Lawrence Carra, CARNEGIE-MELLON UNIVERSITY
"THE DROP
HAMMER has the power and authenticity of the union man's raw experience -- a
quality that has been rare in American Drama since the Thirties."
-- Henry F. Salerno, DRAMA & THEATRE MAGAZINE
"A fine play
with something important to say about America. The continued failure of
his own country to give Mr. Fried's work the recognition it deserves is
difficult to understand."
-- Arnold Wesker, BRITISH PLAYWRIGHT
PERFORMANCES:
Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays at 8pm
Sundays at 6pm
ADMISSION FOR ALL SHOWS: Donation Only!
For the third installment of our annual "Workers'
Power Play Series," Subversive Theatre is very proud to present a
work by the living legend of Buffalo's Union Movement himself -- the very
namesake of our theatre -- Emanuel "Manny" Fried*.
This play looks back at the bitter differences that
devastated one of Buffalo's industrial Unions. Set in the late 1950s at
a time when the plant closures and southward migration that would eventually
ravage our City had only just begun, DROP HAMMER is a historical
play with lessons for rank and file Union members that are still all too
relevant today.
Directed by Subversive Theatre's Founder &
Artistic Director Kurt Schneiderman*, DROP HAMMER features the acting
talents of Victor Morales, Tim Eimiller, and David Hoffman heading up an
extensive cast that also includes Leon S. Copeland, Jr.*, Betsy Bittar, Daniel
Sterlace*, Jack Agugliaro, Marshall Maxwell*, Tom Izard*, Anthony Giambrone,
Guy DeFedericis*, Kevin Dennis, Anthony Tyrpak*, Robert Hodas*, and Brian
Zybala*.
Set and Lighting Design is by Dyan O'Connell* with
Sound Design by John Shotwell*, Costume Design by Paul Stephenson, and
Movement Choreography by Candice Kogut.
DROP HAMMER is a very moving
blue collar drama that makes for an excellent addition to our annual "Workers'
Power Play Series."
Performances run from November 13th through December
14th, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 6pm. No
performance Thursday, November 27th (Thanksgiving Day) and Sunday, December
7th. All

Manny Fried Playhouse" on the third floor of North Buffalo's
Great Arrow Building at 255 Great Arrow Avenue.

for this show is free with donations gratefully accepted before, during, and
