Subversive Theatre is proud to bring to Buffalo
the internationally-touring critically-acclaimed original work I
AM HAMLET starring Brian Morey.
A totally subversive twist on Shakespeare's classic
tragedy, I AM HAMLET presents the
tale of the troubled Prince of Denmark as a one man show! That's right
-- through the use of a dizzying array of lightning-fast costume changes, mask
work, songs, video, puppeteering, and other magical stage techniques, one
actor portrays all the famous characters of HAMLET in a fast-paced,
edgy, and oh so hip theatrical extravaganza that still retains much of
Shakespeare's original text.
This totally unique project made its world premiere
at the Well's College Theatre in Auburn, New York in the Winter of 2009 and is
currently touring throughout North
America with critically acclaimed productions in Boston and Toronto.
Conceived, adapted, and directed by European-trained
Shakespearean director and theatre educator Joe Siracusa, I
AM HAMLET features the acting talents of internationally renowned
actor/singer Brian Morey in this one man tour de force.
The Buffalo engagement of I
AM HAMLET runs May 20th through June 5th with performances
Thursdays at 7:30pm and Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm. General
admission is $15.00 or $10.00 for students, seniors, and Subversive Theatre
members. Admission to all Thursday shows are pay-what-you-can. All
performances are at Subversive Theatre's regular performance venue, The Manny
Fried Playhouse at 255 Great Arrow Avenue on the third floor of North
Buffalo's Great Arrow Building.
Reservations are not available. Seating is
instead offered on a first-come-first-served basis with doors opening one half
hour before each performance.
