at the Manny Fried Playhouse

a one-night-only staged reading of

A MAN'S A MAN
by Bertolt Brecht

Monday, April 6th @ 7:30pm

ADMISSION FREE/DONATIONS WELCOME!

Subversive Theatre is proud to present a staged reading of the masterful anti-war spoof A MAN'S A MAN by the single most respected political playwright of all time -- Bertolt Brecht.  Directed by Drew McCabe, this event features the acting talents of Patrick Cameron, Christopher Standart*, Candice Kogut*, Mike Renna, Arin Dandes, Joy Scime, Greg Przybylak, Amelia Kraatz, Kurt Erb, Valerie Yawein, Paige Mingus, Matt Nerber, RJ Voltz, and Noelle Wright.

A MAN'S A MAN is an epic tale of everyday civilian Gally Gay who is brainwashed and dehumanized until he transforms into the ultimate fighting machine.  In this, his first epic play, Brecht uses a wild blend of slapstick comedy, dance hall bravado, clowning, exaggerated movements, mixing of his unmistakably unique verbal style with many mind-bending twists on historical details.

Especially relevant to the issues of today in the light of the wars in the Middle East and our country's conflicted national identity, A MAN'S A MAN leads audiences to wonder whether our own people have turned into a nation of Gally Gay's -- everyday citizens on a quest to feed their families turned into killing machines in an unethical war.

All shows at Subversive Theatre's recently established performance space, The Manny Fried Playhouse on the third floor of North Buffalo's Great Arrow Building, located at 255 Great Arrow Avenue. Admission is free with donations gratefully accepted before and after all shows. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis with doors opening half an hour before the performance.
