or the eighth installment of our annual "Workers' Power Play Series", we're proud to present one of the most powerful blue collar plays by one of America's most defiantly pro-worker playwrights -- A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE by Arthur Miller.

This all-too-often overlooked masterpiece by America's unapologetically "subversive" master playwright takes us to the hard-bitten world of New York City's over-worked and under-paid dock workers.  Written in 1954 as a cry against McCarthyism, this brilliantly-constructed story of lust and betrayal, of jealously and desperation, of ignorance and hardship exposes the gritty underbelly of the American Dream where the biggest mistake in life is to squeal to the authorities.

Join us as we revive this smoldering jewel of Classic American Theatre... with all the subversive fury it deserves!

"You can quicker get back a million dollars that was stole than a word that you gave away."
                              -Eddie Carbone

An extraordinary play like this calls for an extraordinary cast and we're thrilled to have assembled one of the most powerful casts ever to take the stage at our Manny Fried Playhouse.  One of Buffalo's leading actors, Thomas LaChiusa+ offers a stunning portrayal of hard-headed Eddie Carbone as Lisa Vitrano is incredibly powerful as his wife Beatrice.  Other leading performances come from Andrea Gollhardt as Catherine, James Heffron as Rodolpho, Jeffrey Coyle* as Marco, and Jack Agugliaro* as Alfieri.  Other ensemble members include John Kennedy*, Peter Calieri, Murry Galloway*, John Strong*, Guy DeFedericis*, and Mary Katherine Lodick.

Directed by Subversive Theatre's Founder & Artistic Designer Kurt Schneiderman* and Assistant Director Lydia Kubiniec, this production also boast a deliciously gritty set by Greg Natale, an evocative lighting-scape courtesy of Michael Lodick*, a creatively intense sound-scape courtesy by Brian Zybala*, a rich array of striking 1950s costumes by Carolyn Walleshauser, and period props by Lydia Kubiniec.  Fight Choreography is by Adriano Gatto with Dance Choreography by Monica Karwan*.

"The law is only a word for what has a right to happen.  When the law is wrong it's because it's unnatural, but in this case it IS natural and a river will drown you if you buck it!"
-Mr. Alfieri
